Year 5 look after chicks!3 February 2020 (by cdrucquer) |
Year 5 have had the amazing opportunity to look after 20 chicks! When the eggs arrived, they were kept in an incubator and over the first few days we got to watch them hatch. It was so exciting seeing them as they pecked their way out of their eggs. Within minutes, they looked like fluffy chicks - curiously looking around their new environment and communicating with their brothers and sisters! Over the last two weeks we have been carefully observing and monitoring their growth and progress. Some things, such as weight and height we have been able to accurately measure and other things like behaviour we have been observing. We've noticed that they have rapidly increased in size and weight over the last two weeks!
