Forest School
We are delighted to have a qualified Forest School lead in our Early Years team. It is an integral part of our curriculum. Currently, we take both Reception classes for a half day session per week, to the Forest School site in London Fields Park. We begin the Forest School programme following the October half term.
We go to Forest School whatever the weather and parent/carer volunteers support our weekly trips by accompanying the children to the site, supervising the boundaries and supporting various activities.
Our aim is to develop pupils' connection and respect for nature, by facilitating the freedom to explore, play and learn in a safe, outdoor setting. Children build their resilience and independence, whilst expanding their understanding of the world around them. There is always an opening activity at 'Base Camp', such as a seasonal story or a song, following which, the planned activities are introduced. Forest school is child led and the adults who attend support them in their emerging interests. The sessions end with a hot chocolate and biscuit before the classes return to school.
