Our Junior Road Safety Offices (JRSOs) would like to spread the message of being safe whilst out and about to the children in our school and local community. To do this, they have decided to run a competition over the Christmas holidays! 

Children from Years 1 to 6 have been invited to write a story or poem about road safety. This could be about being bright and staying in sight, the green crossing code, cycling or scooting safely to school or anything else road safety related! 

The JRSOs will choose one winner from Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) and one winner from Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6). The winners will help the JRSOs make stop motion videos using their story or poem as the narrative! The video will then premier on the school website! 

All entries need to be handed in to class teachers or Ms Bulley by Friday 10th January. 

To give you some inspiration, here's two fanatic entries we've already had! 

Always look left, always look right,

Be bright, it won’t bite,

Cross when the man in green,

And make sure you’re seen,

If you cross when the man is read,

It is possible you can be dead,

If you’re on a bike,

Put on a light,

Make sure you look,

For your own good,

Because you always want to feel the safest on the road.

It’s half past three, yay! Time to go home.

I grab my coat and my mobile phone.

I wonder what dad’s made me for tea, some custard creams and some strawberry jelly.

I’m in such a hurry I run down the street,

Bumping into people, tripping over my feet.

Get to the roadside, cars zooming past, I’m looking both ways.

They are moving so fast.

Remembering to wait until it is clear,

Listen as I cross

Look, see, hear.

I’m on the other side, safe and sound.

Custard creams here I come, mmmmmm,

Jelly all around
