Year 6 performing wonders for National Poetry Day!8 October 2019 (by abentley) |
We learnt a poem all about Greta Thunberg and performed it to the class.
On Thursday, it was National Poetry Day and to celebrate Year 6 had a look at a variety of interesting poems all based around this year's theme of truth. We then picked one to learn. We decided to learn 'Greta Thunberg' by Liz Brownlee as we were fascinated by Greta Thunberg's impact on the world and her diagnosis of Autism.
We had some time to learn our parts off by heart, before performing them to the class. We looked at some spoken word performances by Raymond Antrobus to help us understand what makes a good performance. We decided that focusing on the rhythm and beat of the poem would really help us to learn the poem - and it did!
