Our Year Six Museum

17 September 2019 (by Helen Fitzpatrick (admin))

How did the Second World War affect the lives of Londoners?

Year 6 have really impressed their teachers with the maturity and empathy with which they have approached their history topic on how World War II changed the daily lives of Londoners.

We used historical skills to investigate the Blitz and evacuation.  We hosted Christmas dinners at different points in rationing and learned how to make do with very little. We looked at immigration from the Kindertransport and post-war work forces which we will build more on in our next topic. We loved our trip to the Imperial War museum and were able to experience a pretend air raid in an air-raid shelter. At the end of our topic we curated a museum of our own and thought carefully about grouping artefacts and giving our visitors accurate information.
