Happy World Book Day!
What a brilliant day! Thank you to everyone for making such an effort to celebrate World Book Day! We love books at London Fields and this was reflected in the diverse range of costumes today. We had characters from books we have read in school, books you have read together at home and we even had characters that our children would like to see a book be written about! You all were very creative with your costumes and your interesting characters have inspired lots of us to go and find that book we had not heard of and read it ourselves!
This week, in our assemblies, we have been exploring the power of books. We have discussed how reading can help our minds feel well as well as helping our knowledge about the world grow. Books really are amazing.
Please always remember that one of the most important things you can do for your children is to read to them!
By reading aloud to your child from a young age you can:
- expand their imagination
- broadened their vocabulary
- teach them to understand that other people might have different perspectives
- teach them how to pay attention-how to focus and share a common purpose
- develop their knowledge of narrative structure
- show your child love and undivided attention.
Without any explicit teaching, your child will have learned lots!
