Celebrating Difference22 November 2024 (by raustin) |
"We are a box of crayons, each one of us unique, but when we get together our classroom is complete"
In Year One, we have been exploring the question: What is the same and different about us? We thought about our likes, dislikes and strengths and how all these things make us special. We spent time comparing our similarities and differences and thought about why it is important to celebrate differences. Some of the children shared “I have long hair and you have short hair. I like dancing and you like climbing,” and “I have brown eyes and you have brown eyes! My skin is a little bit darker and I know we both love to draw!” We thought about the importance of respecting ourselves and respecting others and how we can show this in the choices that we make.
