Musical Fireworks in Year Four15 November 2024 (by raustin) |
An explosion of sound in KS2.
Year Four have been composing a piece of music to describe a lively firework display. To begin with, we looked at the way in which band music usually has a marching pulse and had a go at creating this like the steady ticking of a clock. We noticed that band music usually contains brass instruments and this reminded us of the instruments we listened to in our Apollo Music workshop. Next, we came up with our exciting firework names, such as Whizzy-Pop-Twirl and rehearsed the name of the firework over the pulse to create a repeating pattern (ostinato). It wasn't long before we used instruments to create our firework ostinatos and put our firework motifs together in an explosive class performance!
