Our half term's theme is Journeys and this week the children in Reception learned to draw simple maps of their immediate environment. They looked at an aerial view of their school and playground and went for a walk on the streets surrounding the school, learning their names.
On their maps, the children marked familiar places, such as the park, the school, Broadway Market and the crossing on Sheep Lane. They also used their phonics knowledge to draw other familiar sights: the bus, cars, pigeons, flowers, trees and many more.
