In this week's Art lessons, Year 6 were learning about Art and Fashion. We expanded our knowledge of artists and art styles by learning about 'Op Art' and looking at famous collaborations between artists and fashion designers. We then examined how one artist - Piet Mondrian - was himself inspired by cubism, and went on to inspire famous fashion designs by Yves Saint Laurent. Taking inspiration from the Greats, we created own T-shirt design. We used our textile skills (running stitch, cross stitch, chain stitch, applique, tie-dye, plaiting, attaching buttons etc.) to create our final designs, and showed them off on the catwalk in a fashion show!
