In RE this term, Year Two have been learning about Christianity. To answer the topic title 'What does it mean for a Christian to belong to a Church?', we have been looking at different features of the church. Today, we developed our knowledge on symbols to get better at exploring beliefs - This involved looking closely at stained-glass windows. We learnt that stained-glass windows were created by artists using symbols to remind Christians about the stories from the Bible and other religious teachings. The imagery reminds worshipers of important values and lessons.

We used our semantic and procedural knowledge of colour theory (warm and cool colours), which we learnt in our art lessons from years one and two to design, make and evaluate a stained-glass window for our local church, with the intended user being our local Christians! We made sure that we used symbols in our designs to remind Christians of their beliefs and values.
