Year 5 take inspiration from Warhol and Lichtenstein
This week, Year 5 have been learning about Pop art and have been exploring the way artists use commercial items (such as celebrities, product labels and logos) along with repeated images and colour to create their work. They looked closely at the painting 'The Car' by Roy Lichtenstein and noticed how he often used comic strip stories for his inspiration. We realised that he would deliberately remove the thought bubbles so that the viewer would focus in on the facial expressions of the characters. Inspired by this, we created our own comic strips.
