Action Painting in Year 319 October 2021 (by raustin) |
Children in Year 3 have been discovering abstract art.
This week, children in Year 3 are exploring abstract art. They discovered the work of abstract artist Jackson Pollock who used 'action painting' to communicate emotion through the physical act of painting. This involves dribbling, splatting and splashing paint. Inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock, Year 3 took to the playground to give action painting a go, describing how they felt as they experimented with different action painting techniques. Once they had finished, children discussed why art critics have different views about Pollock's paintings.
