We had clay in the garden for the children to play with. Whilst they were being imaginative and making magical forests with the dried hydrangeas, fantastic foods such as sausage ice creams, and bowls with gingerbread men for their friends to devour, the children were also exploring the clay's properties and texture and working and strengthening the small muscles in their hands as they pinched, squeezed and prodded the clay, giving shape and adding detail to their object. We love clay in Nursery!
